Kwara State Sports Council, the state Table Tennis Association and sports enthusiasts have celebrated the birthday of sports philanthropist and Chairman sollamps Oil Nigeria Ltd Mr. Olusola Owolabi.
The state stadium complex was agog on Sunday for the 5th edition of Kwara sollamps Oil annual table tennis championship (Kwara 2017) sponsored by Owolabi, as part activities to mark his birthday every 24 of December.
Speaking at the final game, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Kale Ayo Appreciated the support of the sponsor to develop table tennis at the grassroots level.
He reiterated the government’s support to all the sporting associations in the state.
The Director of Sports Coach Tunde Kazeem who rejoiced with the sponsor on his birthday celebration described his his huge support to sports development in the state said he deserved to be celebrated.
The former Nigeria Badminton Coach noted that apart from his big contributions to pin pon game, he also supported other sporting associations, as well as Kwara United Supporters Club and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter.
Speaking earlier, former President, Nigeria Table Federation, Hon. Kayode Omotoshe advised the players to take advantage of the tournament to develop their skills.
No fewer than 120 participants justle for nine titles with the winners went home with 40,000, 30,000, 25,000, 20,000 10,000 and 5000 in different categories.
The participants include falana Tobi, Asaju Bisola , Jimoh Rofiat, Aiyelabegan Sukurat and in every disability, Abdurahman Isa, Tunde Maliki, Ambali Risikat.
Veteran who also took part in the event are Alhaji Omiata, Col. falade and Barrister Orisankoko.
