Elders from Kwara Central Senatorial district at the weekend rose in defence of the Saraki’s family over the demolition of Ile-Arugbo by the state government.
The elders under the aegis of Emirate Elders Observer Movement while noting the needless and unwarranted demolition, advised Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to busy himself with the art of governance so as to meet the high expectations of Kwarans who voted for him rather than raising unnecessary dust that will give him away as one with ulterior motive.
While declaring its unwavering support for late Saraki for his selflessness and personal contribution to the growth and development of Kwara and its indigenes, they eulogise, former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki for committing time and resources to not only sustain but improve in the welfarist legacies of his father that has become a tradition in the dynasty.
In a press statement jointly signed by its chairman, vice and secretary, Alhaji Isiaka Hassan, Alhaji Idowu Asa and Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulraheem Olaomi respectively, the group said no amount of attack or propaganda can erase the love of the late Oloyee or that of his son away from the hearts of Kwarans who have benefited from his philanthropic gestures.
According to the Emirate elders, the demolition of Ile Arugbo which will set the state back for many years has nothing to do with due process as there are better and more proper ways to handle the issue than the pettiness displayed by the Governor but supported by enemies of the state masquerading as agents of change.
The body however advised the Governor to shun acts pointing that he’s nursing any trace of vendetta against anybody and work hard to bring everybody on board and encourage Kwarans especially those with the capacity and experience to contribute to the development of the state.
In the task of developing Kwara, the elders noted that all hands irrespective of political affiliation, religion and ethnicity must be on deck to ensure that the state does not slide into anarchy.
