Fusing thinking into education

 

Nigerians the world over are reputed for being well educated and for excellent performance in educational spheres, though a lot of communities in Nigeria remains less influenced by the academic feats of these great people.
It is no gain saying that Nigeria is immensely endowed with human and natural resources, yet we still depend on the competencies and influence from the western world to harness our God given resources.
In bridging the gap between our academic prowess and its inability to affect our common masses that the Ubong King Foundation convoke a conference targeted at youths to access the possibility of fusing education with creative and positive thinking so as to ensure that what is learnt, with right thinking can pave way towards individual and collective progress. The conference was tagged THINKATIONโ€™.
Addressing participants at the event, the wife of the Executive Governor of Kwara State Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed alluded to the fact that as good as education is, the realities of the present time has pointed out clearly that education is not sufficient on its own to bring about success rather education must be aligned with creativity which is a bye product of thinking to gain relevance in the global scheme of happenings.
Deaconess Ahmed was quick to add that as youths and young adults, positive thinking and education culminates in success, but in our drive to make life better for us we should be conscious of the choices we make, even as she pointed out that, we as individuals are a product of our passion.


She said that in becoming successful,ย  impactful and a value adding member of the society, challenges like lack of vision, sense of direction, insufficiency, lack of confidence, distractions and indiscipline are put as threat as a youth on the path to success.
It however, behooves on us to be conscious of the choices we make, so as to stave us off untoward acts, because whatever seed we sow we definitely will reap.
Sharing the believe that being educated is not entirely a means on its own, but a means to an end, the speakers at the conference in unison all recognized the place of education and positive thinking in achieving set goals.
Mrs. Ini Abimbola in her presentation sees education as not just a gathering of facts and knowledge but training of the mind to think critically. According to her, the zeal to strengthen the link between a thought, dream and action required a burning decision.
On his part, another speaker at the conference Mr Atuyota Akpobome popularly known as Ali Baba relates more with the power of thought when purpose is clearly defined.
Finally, the God factor was identified as key to drive our thought process and as such youths are enjoined to seek God and have a relationship with their creator.
