Adamu announces Lawan as APC consensus candidate

Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reportedly announced Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the consensus presidential candidate for the party.
According to The Nation, Adamu announced the development on Monday at the meeting of the party’s national working committee (NWC), held in Abuja.

The party is also said to have decided that other presidential hopefuls will be allowed to participate in the presidential primary.
Voting for the APC’s presidential candidate is scheduled for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the development comes as President Muhammadu Buhari held a meeting with APC governors from the northern region in Abuja.
Discussions at the meeting with the president, which held on Tuesday, included the decision of the northern governors asking for the APC presidential ticket to be zoned to the south.
