LG Election: Police arrests 2 wanted suspects

Two suspected hoodlums on the wanted list of the Kwara State Police Command, Taiye Komolafe and Ahmed Baba Aboto of Arobadi village in Moro Local Government, were last Saturday arrested.
They were said to have perpetrated politically motivated violence during the November 18, 2017 Local Government election in Moro LG.
Pilot Crime gathered that the  duo destroyed  property, beat up people and stabbed one Mohammed Yusuf Jamiu on his head.
According to a police source, five suspects were  arrested in November last year in connection to the crime committed at Kulende community area of Arobadi in which  cars  were damaged, property burnt and people injured during an attack.
The source further disclosed that the case was reported at the Divisional police headquarters, Malete  by Honorable Ibrahim Abdulrasaq of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission.
“The complainant said  that he was at Arobadi Village via Malete when he received information that some hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons stormed the community in a Golf Car with reg No. Lagos JJJ-161-DP and Bajaj motorcycle with reg No. Lagos SMK – 405- QA  and were threatening to burn down houses and vehicles in the village.
” He also complained that the hoodlums also held Issa Adara Jimoh hostage in his vehicle Rio Kia with reg. No.KW-111-AOI and later tore his tyres with knife before the car was eventually set ablaze. In the process, a Honda car with reg No. Kwara BDU-140-TD belonging to Alhaji Adaara was partly burnt and its four tyres  deflated by the hoodlums.
“He stated further that  the hoodlums also beat and stabbed one Mohammed Yusuf Jamiu with Knife on his head,” the Police Source divulged.
It was further gathered that five suspects, Salaudeen Abdulganiyu of Adaara, Atanda Usman of Adaara village, Usman Ayo of Bamgbose Village, Lukman Abdullahi of Arobadi and Ibrahim Isah of Balogun village  were arrested  while others fled from the scene.
” The case was transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department of the Command for further investigation.
” The five suspects arrested confessed that they conspired together with others at large to perpetrate the crime and also revealed the identities of  nine other suspects
” Investigation into the crime led to the arrest of the two suspects who are helping the police with information that could lead to arrest of their accomplices who are on the run.
However, when contacted on the matter, the Spokesperson of Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi denied knowledge of the case.

 


…nabs  motorcycle thieves in Ilorin

Two middle aged men were last Wednesday   arrested by the men of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Kwara State Command, in Ilorin, the state capital, Pilot Crime gathered.
The  suspects,  Ademola Adekunle and Oladipupo Bolaji, were nabbed  for stealing a Bajaj Motorcycle with registration No. LAR 214 QJ belonging to David Ayela.
According to a police source, the victim   reported the case of his stolen motorcycle valued at N250,000 at the   F-SARS office  in Ilorin.
” During investigation, the suspects were arrested following a tip off. They both confessed to the crime. According to them, they gained entrance into the victim’s house by breaking through the ceiling at midnight and made away with the motorcycle parked at the verandah.
They  were said to have also confessed to have sold the motorcycle to one Adams at the rate of N85,000.
” The duo confessed further that they forcefully unlock the neck disconnected the ignition wire and took it to their buyer Adams of Eruda area, Ilorin, who bought it at N85,000.”
The police added that the motorcycle has been recovered but the buyer is on the run, saying that efforts are on to effect his arrest.
In a related development, a 19 -yr-old scavenger,  Umar Lawal was arrested by men of the Kwara State Police Command last Monday for burglary. He was arrested at  Odota area of the state capital, Pilot Crime learnt.
According to a police source, the suspect was caught by one Wasiu Garba who reported the case at the “D” divisional Police Station of Adewole area.
” Garba said he sighted the suspect while trying to gain enyrance into a house in the area through the window. He raised the alarm which attracted attention of people in the area who arrested him. A locally made gun was recovered from him, ” he said.
The police source stated furthered that the suspect who was later transferred to the State CIID for further interrogation,  confessed to the crime.
