Man arrested for stealing .35m phone in Ilorin restaurant

A 21-year-old man, Olayinka Olalekan is cooling his heels in police net for allegedly stealing a phone valued at N350,000 at a popular restaurant in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The technician was said to have stolen the Samsung phone belonging to one Falowo Folake at Divine Cakes, Unity road, penultimate Friday.
Pilot Crime learnt that the suspect pilfered the phone while the owner was making order for her meal.
Giving the account of the incidence, a police source said, ” The lady was at Divine Cakes, along Unity road to eat. In the process of making order, she left her phone on the table and later discovered that it had been stolen.
“She suspected Olayinka who stood behind her at that time and gave his physical description, when she reported the case at the police station, which assisted the operatives to effect arrest of the suspect.
The police disclosed that the suspect was traced to the Presidential Hotel in Isale Asa area of the metropolis and the phone recovered from him.
“During investigation at the Area Command Olayinka, who confessed to have stolen the phone, said he specialised in stealing phones and gadgets.
” The investigation also revealed that the suspect have a pending case, theft of laptop, which has also been recovered from him,” the source divulged.
However, when contacted on the case, the spokesperson of the state Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi denied knowledge of the matter.
