People’s votes gave National Pilot Best Print Media Award-KWIRS boss

The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Muritala Awodun has given an insight into how National Pilot Newspaper emerged the Best Print Media for the year 2017.
The award has been described by its ardent readers as a fitting climax to the giant strides the medium has brought to newspaper reportage and professionalism since the new management took over in the state.
In an interview with our reporter over the weekend in his office, the chairman revealed that the award came through a transparent voting process, adding that it was the people that voted for the medium.
According to him, several organisations were selected for the award before National Pilot won it with the most nominations.
According to him, “There are various stakeholders involved in all of these and we have to engage all of them because the award is not something one would just sit down to give.
“They (stakeholders) nominated and voted and that was what we did. Several organisations were nominated before National Pilot became the winner with the most nomination from the people,” he stressed.
It would be recalled that the KWIRS boss while presenting the Award to National Pilot, had said the newspaper was selected for the award for its accurate reporting and “its consistency including extensive reportage of our activities in the out-gone year.”
He added that the medium was selected from a pool of nominees in different categories, saying “those who have standout should be rewarded for their support to us.”
