Repeal of Sola Saraki Varsity: Halt politics, focus on good governance – Parliamentarian

A member representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the
Nigerian Youth Parliament, Hon Abdulkareem Abdulkareem has urged the
Kwara State House of Assembly to focus on good governance and halt
politics of ingrate against late Oluola Saraki who he described as
Kwara Hero.
AbdulKareem while reacting to the decision of lawmaker to stripe late
Saraki of the honour said Immortalising late Baba Saraki with state
owned institution shouldn’t generate politics of bitterness but little
gesture to appreciate his unalloyed effort in his lifetime and
boosting morale of others to do more.
In a statement personally signed by him, AbdulKareem noted that its
time for the lawmakers to stop politics of sentiment and bitterness.
The statement reads:
“In a room where people unanimously maintain a conspiracy of silence
on ugly drama played by the Kwara State House of Assembly on our
unforgettable hero, Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki, one word of truth
sounds like a pistol shot to the designated darkness.
“It’s high time we integrate governance mentality and good vision to
better our dear state and isolate your leadership thinking from
politics of bitterness and sentiment.
The issue of Baba Saraki is a case of “Its not possible to love God
but hate Mankind”. Baba Oloye is a Leader and Mentor that lived a very
successful and fulfilled life, rising to National prominence by dint
of harkwork, uncommon generosity, political sagacity, dedication and
whole commitment to the service of his people and the entire nation in
his lifetime.
“Baba Oloye touched lives of many Kwarans, made many leaders and
bridge builder with conciliatory force who helped to bring together
his people, irrespective of their political difference and accommodate
opposition views.
“Political giant and shining star of Nigeria politics left his
positive footprint on the sand of the time which should immortalise
him beyond Kwara State and North Central.
“It’s horrible and sardonic for those that has benefited from the
generosity pot of Baba Oloye to be pushing for the repealing of
Abubakar Sola Saraki University to Kwara State University, if it no
longer serve you, respect the days it once served you.
“The new occupants of House of Assembly, source of their leadership
spirit, experience and exposure is rooted in Baba Oloye leadership
institution.
“Immortalizing Baba Oloye with state owned institution shouldn’t
generate politics of bitterness, ingrate energy and political scores
but little gesture to appreciate his unalloyed effort in his lifetime
and boosting morale of others to do more.
I urge Kwara State House of Assembly to focus on bill to address good
governance, infrastructure, unemployment and proper funding of all
tertiary institutions in Kwara state through prompt release of
subvention rather than acting on script of forgetful sycophant and
insensible politician. The leadership of Kwara state House of Assembly
shouldn’t afraid to rise above mediocrity.
