North Central holds Nigeria’s future – Saraki

Immediate past Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has said the North Central region holds the keys to Nigeria’s future and will further develop the country.
Saraki disclosed this when he received the North Central People’s Forum (NCPF) in his Abuja home led by General Jeremiah Useni adding that the mineral resources deposit in the region is a huge source of income in the future.
The former Senate President, who was made patron of the NCPF, said he is very happy with the formation of the forum which he said was long overdue.
He said the concept for the establishment of the NCPF was for the people of the region to come together and share ideas on how to develop the area.
His words: “The nomenclature is now clear, the boundaries are clear. The whole purpose is for development. Politics should not be considered at this stage. The future of the country lies on North Central because of the mineral resources. If the North Central is developed, Nigeria will develop.”
He said his late father and Chief Sunday Awoniyi did their best for the region and called on the people of the North Central to ensure that they support the leaders to achieve success.
While urging the leaders of NCPF to take their work seriously, Saraki called for unity among Nigerians.
“There are many areas Nigeria can explore to develop, areas of agriculture and mineral resources need to be developed which we have in abundance in the North Central. If you look across the North Central region, irrigation farming is inadequate considering the huge opportunity we have. We need to make it a priority not only for the North Central region but the entire country. That is where the future is. If the North Central developed, the better it is for the country,” Saraki added.
Meanwhile, the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has said he is confident that the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki will continue his great works for the people of the state.
Saraki said this while receiving Governor Obaseki at his House in Abuja on Thursday when the latter paid him a thank you visit for the support during the governorship election in Edo State.
“A little while ago, it was a pleasure to receive my brother, Governor Obaseki, who came to thank us for our support during the last Edo State gubernatorial election. As he begins his 2nd term, I am confident that he will continue the great work that he has started for his people” Saraki tweeted.
