Surprise as Saraki flies commercial to Ghana

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki boarded a commercial flight belonging to Arik Air on his way to Ghana, yesterday.
This drew some reactions on social media, with some praising the “modesty” displayed by Nigeria’s number three citizen.
Dignitaries on such assignments usually fly presidential or private jets.
The Senate President is expected to address lawmakers of the neighbouring country on the commemoration of their parliament’s celebration of 25 years of uninterrupted democracy.
Saraki, who was accompanied by some of his colleagues, will speak on “The Future of Good Governance in Africa”.
The Senate President on arrival in the West African country was graciously received at the Accra airport by the Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, Hon(Prof)Aaron Mike Ocquaye.
Saraki took to his tweeter handle to announce his arrival in Ghana; “As part of activities to celebrate 25 years of uninterrupted parliamentary democracy in Ghana, I will be addressing the country’s parliament”.
Saraki was subsequently hosted to a grand reception by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador, Olufemi Abikoye.
Meanwhile, the decision of the Senate President to fly a commercial airline instead of a private or chartered jet to the West African country has been followed with wide appreciation by Nigerians on the social media.
Yusuf Alabere on his tweeter handle @yusufalabere said, “Nice one sir, having confidence in you for the good representation.# SarakiinGhana.
Another respondent, Saka Olawale@wagzie01 said, “For Ghanaian Parliament to have invited Bukola Saraki, they are ready to learn from him on his exemplary leadership of the Nigeria National Assembly.”
