‘Kwara Jnr Golf clinic to harness grassroots talents’

 

The Kwara State Golf Association on Thursday reiterated its commitment
to uphold the Junior Golf Clinic for the children between the ages of
nine to eleven years an annual event.
The Chairman of the association Faruq Ismail gave the assurance during
a golf clinic organised for young lads during summer holiday held at
the Ilorin Golf Club.
Faruq, who promised to queue into youth programme said the clinic will
be an annual event to harness more talents from the grassroots.
The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Sports and Youth Development in
his address expressed the gratitude of the state government to the
association for organising the golf clinic for the children, while
urging the parents to continuing encouraging their children to take
part in the game.
In his remark, Kwara Director of Sports Coach Tunde Kazeem enjoyed the
parents to always release their children for golf programme and other
sporting activities.
During the Chipping and Putting event of the clinic, the trio of
Telilah Aliu, Ayodami Muyiwa and Diekola Sadiku emerges first, second
and third respectively in the boys set while Adekoya Oluwadara,
Ilufoye Darasimi and Delight Opoola won the female set.
Tehila Aliu also came top in chipping, followed by Lade Odunaya and
Diekola Sadiku to win medals. Delight Opoola joined the duo of Ilufoye
Darasimi and Adekoya Oluwadara to clinich medals in the girls set.
For Putting, Umar Farouk, Dele Abdulrahman and Lade Odunaya finished
in the podium while Ilufoye Darasimi, Adekoya Oluwadara and Delight
Opoola were given medals for clinching a top three finish.
