Foundation targets 5,000 free eye screening in Ilorin

In its bid to contribute to the health and improve on the wellbeing of the citizens of Kwara State, a Non Governmental Organisation, Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim (MAI) Foundation, has commenced free eye screening and treatment in Ilorin.
Beneficiaries of the gesture were also giving free glasses amidst other medical tests.
MAI is targeting 5,000 residents in the state in the first batch of the exercise scheduled to go round the 16 local government areas in the state.
Speaking with journalists at the occasion, yesterday, Ajia said the humanitarian gesture was borne out of a passion to positively impact heath narrative of the people.
According to him, “Part of MAI outreach is the health programme which we embarked on to help Kwarans protect their eyes.
“We observed that eye is essential organ in the body and a lot of people are having problems with their eyes and they cannot afford to treat them,” he said
He said the foundation, through a partnership with experts is sensitising the people on the causes of eye challenges with a view to guide them on what they must do, like the right diets to take as a way to avoid eye problems.
According to him, “we are targeting 5,000 Kwarans to benefit from this programme and we will move to Offa, then to the three Senatorial Districts to reach the common people.”
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout of people and urged beneficiaries to adhere strictly to the counsel of the medical personnel.
