Youth Group Commend Kwara Governor Over Release of Funds for LG/SUBEB Arrears, MOU with Labour

The Kwara Youth Strategic Movement has commended the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed over his commitment to implement the N30,000 minimum wage and the release of funds for payment of one month salary for Local Government workers, pensioners and SUBEB workers.

Gov. Ahmed had announced this on Monday at Labour House in Ilorin during the signing of a pact between him, the Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Razak Atunwa and labour leaders in the state.

In a swift reaction to the development the Kwara Youth Strategic Movement in a statement signed by it’s State Coordinator Amb. Gegele Ahmed Ibrahim released in Ilorin on Tuesday, applauded the Governor for what he described as a demonstration of exemplary leadership.

“We note with great satisfaction the Commitment of the Governor to the implementation of the new minimum wage upon legislation.

“At a time when many state Governors are still in a fix and patently indecisive, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has again shine a light on effective leadership at a time such quality is in short supply in our political Economy”

“It is also gratifying to note that the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the Release of Funds for LG/SUBEB Arrears, as a reflection of his commitment to the welfare of the Labour force”

The civil society organization concluded by urging the Governor to continue to priotize the welfare of the workforce, noting that no meaningful development can occur without a viable workforce.
