Kwara seals private school for early resumption

The Kwara State government last week sealed a private school; Chaste Intellect International School, GRA, Ilorin for running contrary to the existing academic calendar.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Maryam Garba made the disclosure in her office on Friday even as she warned that the state government has zero tolerance for proprietors and head teachers who failed to conform with the academic calendar as provided by the ministry.
Hajia Garba stated these as all schools across the state resume for the 3rd term, today.
She said, “We have already sealed Chaste Intellect International School, Ilorin for resuming a week ahead of the academic calendar provided by the state government.
“We have told the management that the school will remain shut because they did not license the Chaste themselves, we did.
“Since we gave the license to operate, you then wonder why they have failed to conform to our terms of approval. That shows they lacked respect for the government and we will not tolerate any such act of noncompliance,” the Permanent Secretary said.
She however urged all schools in the state especially the private ones to resume for the 3rd term, today adding that teachers must ensure they resume classes immediately.
“As schools across the state will be resuming on Monday (today) for the 3rd term, I urge all teachers to be punctual at work and to resume classes immediately.
“Also, the parents and guardians must get their wards ready for the new term and they should also provide them with cardigans now that we are in the raining season. They should also ensure that their children get to school early and safe.
“To prevent any form of truancy or loitering, we have strategised and our officers will be going round to ensure anyone found loitering or absent from his/her duty post will be severely dealt with,” Hajia Garba divulged.
