By Mumini Abdulkareem
Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on Thursday empowered women leaders across all the wards in Kwara central senatorial districts.
Each of the 52 beneficiaries got N200, 000 from Saraki to boast their businesses and economic activities.
The money where distributed in cash to all the beneficiaries
This is the second time within a week that the Senate President will extend such gesture to indigenes in the senatorial district.
Saraki, it would be recalled, expended N50m last week on similar gesture to offset the salary backlogs of traditional chiefs in Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Ilorin East and Asa local government areas.
Addressing the women, the Director-General of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS), Mandate constituency office, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi said the event was a demonstration of Saraki’s love and concern for the women in appreciation for their support and steadfastness over the years.
He said the gesture was the result of constant brainstorming on how to continue to impact the lives of the women positively adding that those that are yet to benefit from Saraki’s magnanimity should be patient as they would not be neglected.
“This event was the fallout of constant discussion initiated by the Senate President on how to contribute to the social economic wellbeing of the affected women who have demonstrated uncommon loyalty to the Saraki dynasty over the years.
“The sum of N10.4m has been approved by Dr Bukola Saraki to support the trade and various businesses of all the 52 women in Kwara Central.
“Each of you will collect N200,000 to serve as a boost for your economic activities with a view to contribute meaningfully to your welfare and well being”,
“Saraki has not fail and will never fail to fufill all his promises made to you especially that he is very much concern about your welfare and progress and will continue to do everything within his capacity to see that you are happy”, Abdullahi said.
In her remark, the APC state Women Leader, Hajia Rahmat Oganija thanked the Senate President for the gesture adding that the persistence and constant reminder of Saraki by the DG on the issue yielded the desired result.
She urged the women leaders to mobilise the people to go and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and continue to support the Senate President in order to do more for them.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries who where full of praises for Alhaji Musa Abdullahi for his role in the matter, Hajia Wasilat Soliu (Abosioyooyan) appreciated the Senate president for not neglecting them and promised to continue to rally support for the Senate President.
