The Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Chief Mathew Okedare has been awarded Honorary Doctor of Public Administration by the Commonwealth University as well as Master Class Certificate in Business Management and Leadership by the Graduate School, London.

The certificates, which were presented to the awardee in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), last week also had in attendance various scholars, administrators selected from across the Commonwealth nations.

Some of the criteria used in selecting the beneficiaries, according to the school, include positive impact and selfless services rendered to the society.

Okedare was selected as one of the awardees because of his ability to link directly with his constituents as a good representative at the state House of Assembly after intensive scrutiny by the panel.

Reacting, Chief Okedare, who is representing Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency, appreciated the institutions for the honour, stressing that it would further spur him to do more for his people.

The lawmaker noted that it has not been very rosy as a politician, but due to his humble background he has made it a point of duty to represent his people very well in whatever position he found himself in public service.

He thanked his constituents for their maximum support and cooperation over the years, adding that he would not relent in improving the lives of his people.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad has described the honour done Okedare as well deserved.

Ahmad, in a congratulatory message issued by his Media Aide, Shuaib Abdulkadir at the weekend, described the Deputy Speaker as a very dependable ally in the lawmaking business.

The Speaker said he never for once entertained any fear in allowing Okedare preside over plenary while being engaged with other official assignments outside the state.
