Filling Station: Kwara Assembly frowns at arbitrary license approval by Town Planning

The Kwara State Physical Planning and Development Control Agency has been enjoined to always ensure strict compliance to all Petroleum Inspection Recommendations by filling stations developers to guard against fire outbreak.
This was the resolution of the House after considering the report of House Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development on petition titled “Petrol Storage and Dispensing Station Situated Within Already Existing Residential Community and Veritable Threat to Life and Property in Basin Road” at the Committee of Whole presented by the lawmaker representing Irepodun Constituency, Felix Tayo–Awodiji on Tuesday.
Hon Awodiji stressed the need for filling stations developers to desist from building filling stations in residential areas to forestall unforeseen circumstances.
Speaker, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu while reading the resolutions of the House charged the state government to prevail on Town Planning Agency to stop granting approval to filling station construction without observance of clear setback between the existing structures to ensure safety of lives and property.
