Adediji who also lecture at the State Polytechnic since 1992 however shares his most daunting moment in the legal practice with our Judiciary Correspondent, KAYODE ADEOTI. Excepts:
My practice all the way has been very interesting and wonderful but I will not forget what happened to me this year. It happened that somebody took my client to court over enforcement of fundamental human right and claimed damages of two million naira.
After we had addressed the court, we opposed the application. The judge looked at the application and asked the other lawyer if he was saying that police did not have power to arrest the criminal? He further insisted that his the other lawyerโs client was a criminal because he took money from the defendant, the respondent, to supply certain products but failed. The judge also expressed dismay in the fact that the other lawyers’ client became evasive when he was asked of the products.
The judge also informed the lawyer to ask his client to bring the products and that within two hours, it will be sold and two million will be available. And of course, that was our stand. And that was how the matter was struck out in our favour. I was so excited.
