Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has expressed shock over the dimension in which the Offa robbery incident is being taken, just as he enjoined the Nigeria Police Force to adhere strictly to the rule of law.
Ahmed who condemned the politicisation of the case emphasised that the media trial that greeted the incidence was needless.
Governor Ahmed, who made his position known in Ilorin when he received the Elders of the All Progressives Congress in the state on Tuesday at the Government House, maintained that the Nigeria Police Force should allow the rule of law to take its full course.
He noted with dismay that the public had began to lose confidence in the Nigeria Police Force with the way the case is being handled and called for judicial system devoid of political sentiment and bias.
He also advocated entrenchment of rule of law in the country’s political system to ensure fairness, equity and justice for overall growth and development.
The Coordinator, Kwara APC Elders Forum, Hon Kola Yusuf had earlier expressed dissatisfaction over the way the case is being handled, saying that the Nigeria Police Force was just chasing shadows as far the case is concerned.
He explained that members of the public were now apprehensive with the way with which the case is being handled.
Buttressing the points of the coordinator, a member of the group, Hon Kola Shittu demanded for the parade of two other kingpins that allegedly took part in the robbery.
According to him, “It is important that the police parade a dismissed police officer, Michael Adikwu and a son of a human right activist, Ayo Opadokun, Kayode Opadokun for proper prosecution”.
