Voters Education: Kwara INEC organises quiz completion for schools, today

In its bid to deepen voters education in the state, the Kwara state chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will today, (Thursday) organise a quiz competition among secondary schools in the state.
This, the commission noted, will help in the drive to spread the knowledge of voters education across communities towards the sustenance democratic governance in the present dispensation.
A statement by the commission signed by INEC’s Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Barrister Jacob Ayanda, a copy of which was forwarded to National Pilotย ย ย ย made available to this medium on Wednesday said the programme has been scheduled for 10:00am at the Conference Hall at the commission’s premises behind Mandate Market, Ilorin.
โFurtherance to INECs effort to use the school as bridges to reach the communities and carry out other activities that are targeted at democratic sustenance in Nigeria, the commission commenced quiz competition among the voters education clubs in secondary schools in Kwara State.
โFor the climax of this competition, eight (8) secondary schools in fives (5) local government areas have been selected to partake in the grand finaleโ, the statement added.
The names of the schools involved in the competition were however not given.
Most elections in the country are most times are always trailed with apathy from the populace which has been traced to lack of proper and sound voters education.
The competition is expected to create more awareness on the issue especially among the students who form the critical mass of the voters the participate in the exercise.
