But for providence and the car airbag, three unidentified middle-aged men may have lost their lives around Sawmill area, Ilorin, yesterday after the driver lost control while on speed and rammed into a shop.
According to a commercial motorcyclist, who simply identified himself as Olayinka, he was at the back of the Toyota Corolla car when the incident occurred.
“I was next to the car at Sawmill area, suddenly the driver lost control and rammed into a shop but the three occupants escaped unhurt because of the airbag.
“When the trio came out of the car, the driver said he never knew he had slept off. He added that they organised special prayer overnight and when it was time to check on someone the following morning they could not locate the driver hence they opted to drive themselves since their destination was just a distant away.โ
Speaking with one of the occupants of the car, he said, โWe were chatting from Tanke till we got to General Hospital, Ilorin when we stopped talking, we did not noticed that the driver had slept off within a short time.โ
