P arty faithful across the state on Monday converged on the secretariat of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ilorin to offer prayers in honour of the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki over his recent exoneration by the Supreme Court over alleged false asset declaration.

The prayers which attracted women from the 16 local government area of the state also featured recitation of the Holy Quran among other Islamic spiritual chants anchored by Ustaz Yusuf Agboji

Speaking with newsmen, the organiser, who doubles as the party’s Woman Leader in the state, Hajia Ramat Oganija, said the event was put together to appreciate Allah for the Supreme Court victory of Saraki and his conferment as the Waziri of Ilorin by the Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Oganija noted that Saraki’s victory at the apex court and his new chieftaincy title has brought overwhelming joy to women in the state.

Speaking further, Oganija said she knew the Senate President was wrongly accused for a crime he never committed but God vindicated him from the hands of his enemies.

“Personally, I have been overwhelmingly happy from the day of the Supreme Court’s verdict and I felt the only way to show gratitude to Allah was to organise this kind of gathering where prayers would be offered to glorify our creator for quashing the persecution against our leader.

โ€œAlso, we are using this opportunity to pray for Allah’s continued guidance and blessing for our leader who has committed so much to the development of the people of the state,” Oganija added.

The event had in attendance party stakeholders from across the state.
