Kwara police nabs fake soldier

 

A 35- year- old man, Olaoye Adekunle has been nabbed by the men of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of Kwara State Command for allegedly parading himself as a military officer in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state, last Sunday.
Pilot Crime gathered that the suspect, who had been harassing and intimidating people of the community, was arrested following tip off.
According to a police source, the case was reported to SARS Annex 1 Omu Aran office that an army officer has been tormenting people in the community.
โ€œThe SARS operatives swung into action and monitored activities of the man whom they later discovered was a fake soldier, which led to his arrest.โ€
โ€œDuring the investigation at the F-SAR ‘A’ Command in Ilorin, the suspect confessed to the crime. He enumerated his atrocities to include extorting commercial motorcyclists, buying items from traders without paying, physical assaults, among others on the pretext of being a soldier.
Speaking on the matter, the state police spokesperson said investigation is still ongoing on the case, adding that the suspect will be prosecuted thereafter.

Men of Kwara State Police command have arrested a 32 โ€“year- old man, simply identified as Ibrahim for robbery in Ilorin.
The suspect was arrested at Doviz Hotel, Gaa-Imam and a gun recovered from him at the time of arrest.
Other items recovered from him include one mac-book mini apple computer,ย  Infinix hot 2 phone, Iphone 4 phone,ย  Iphone 5 handset,ย  iphone 6 handset, one Huawai tablet phone,ย ย  Nokia phone,ย  wireless modem, two power banks and small black bag containing charms.
A police source told Pilot Crime that upon the information received by Anti kidnapping Squad Police headquarters, the hotel was searched and the suspect was nabbed.
“The suspect was taken to station for interrogation and could not give satisfactory account of how he came about the items recovered from him.”
The police source said further that, the investigation further conducted by the police revealed that, sometimes in the month of May this year, Ibrahim and his accomplice Dele who is now at large stole two HP laptops valued N180,000 at Dolitrix hostel Tanke area, belonging to students of University of Ilorin, Edward Peter Akpan and Oluwo Babatomiwa.
“That same month the suspect and two others at large went to Nepa Hostel, Tanke area of Ilorin and robbed the occupants of their phones at gun point. Theyย  stole about 20 phones during the operation.
It was gathered that the suspect was allegedly among a gang that attacked a student of University of Ilorin, Mamanย  AbdulJelili , sometime in June.
โ€œHe was beaten up, forced into a car and robbed of his techno C7 phone, one gold wrist watch and gold necklace,” the source further disclosed.
The police source further that, the suspect Ibrahim confessed to all the crime which led to the recovery of another phones, one iphone 7 handset, one techno W3 phone and has been claimed by the owners”
Efforts to get the state police spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi to confirm the case proved abortive as calls and text messages sent to his phone were not responded to as at the time of filing this report.
