The Director General of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Osita Aboloma has issued warning to producers of fake products to desist or face wrath of the law.

He vowed that the agency would clampdown on those adulterating products across the country soon.

Aboloma gave the warning during the presentation of Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) to Polar Petrochemicals Limited in Ilorin, Kwara State recently.

He stated that the perpetrators of the crime will have their investment banned.

He attributed the circulation of fake and adulterated products in the country to ineffective monitoring by relevant agencies..

The DG, who was represented by Group Head Chemical Technologies of SON, Agboola Afolayan, urged Nigerians to patronise ‘Made in Nigeria’ products “as they can compete with similar products manufactured elsewhere in the world.โ€

Earlier, the Coordinator of SON in Kwara State, Engr. Sunday Ishaya Yashin had explained that the presentation of MANCAP certificate to Polar Petrochemicals is because the company has shown commitment to production of quality lubricants.

Yashin, however, tasked the company to maintain the high standard as the certificate is valid for a period of three years.

Responding, the Chairman of Polar Petrochemicals, Alhaji Tasiu Mustapha said the company has won local and international recognition as the first lubricant manufacturing company to be awarded the upgraded ISO 9001:2015 QMS among others.

“This harvest of awards is a testimony of brand quality and we promise to position the company in the global league of international recognised companies.ย ย I want to assure that we will continue to ensure the standard of operation to the satisfactory of our customers, stakeholders and regulatory bodies, most especially the Department of Petroleum Resources and SON.โ€
