Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State on Saturday presented staff of office to the new Olomu of Omu -Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti Olomuefon II with a charge to re-enact the spirit of self-help that was the driving force of the industrious people of the community.
At the colourful ceremony held at the Government Secondary School, Omu-Aran, the Governor charged the monarch to encourage his subjects to pool resources together for communal projects, saying that the government alone is incapable of meeting all aspirations of the people simultaneously.
The governor who described the new Olomu as widely accepted by all, expressed hope that the latter’s wide acceptance would usher in the expected goodwill and prosperity for the community and the people.
He said, โ€œAs the father of all, I will advise you to close ranks with other contestants to the throne in order to bring about the much-needed accelerated development to your community.โ€
Governor Ahmed therefore charged the first class traditional ruler to sustain the peace that exists in his domain.
The Governor particularly charged the monarch to put necessary machinery in place to identify and nip in the bud any issue capable of truncating the peace in your domain.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Habeeb Saidu assured that government would continue to accord due recognition, respect and support to traditional rulers by ensuring their welfare and comfort at all times.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Hon Muyiwa Oladipupo called on all sons and daughters of Omu Aran to support the new monarch for the community to move forward.
Responding, Oba Adeoti appreciated the Governor for the support and promised to unite all the people of the community for socio-economic development.
