No fewer than eleven lives were lost in an early morning auto crash involving a commercial vehicle that rammed into another an articulated vehicle along Shao, outskirts of Ilorin on Saturday.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 6:35 am Sunday at Shao junction, Ilorin reportedly as a result of over speeding.
The Kwara State Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the indecent, warned drivers against speed violation while driving.
โThe FRSC received a call at around 6.35 a.m. about a crash involving two vehicles, a commercial bus and an articulated vehicle this morning and found that the crash resulted as a result of speed violation,โโ he said.
Owoade explained that out of 20 persons involved in the crash, 11 persons lost their lives while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
โTwenty persons were involved in the accident; 11 persons were killed while others sustained fractures and injuries.
โThe 11 corpses were taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, while those who sustained injuries were taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
โThe road has been cleared and there is no obstruction caused as a result of the crash,โโ Owoade added.
He warned motorists against violating road safety guidelines and other road users, particularly commuters, to always caution commercial vehicle drivers against over-speeding.
