11 lives lost, other injured in Kwara fatal road crash

No fewer than eleven lives were lost in an early morning auto crash involving a commercial vehicle that rammed into another an articulated vehicle along Shao, outskirts of Ilorin on Saturday.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 6:35 am Sunday at Shao junction, Ilorin reportedly as a result of over speeding.
The Kwara State Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the indecent, warned drivers against speed violation while driving.
โ€œThe FRSC received a call at around 6.35 a.m. about a crash involving two vehicles, a commercial bus and an articulated vehicle this morning and found that the crash resulted as a result of speed violation,โ€™โ€™ he said.
Owoade explained that out of 20 persons involved in the crash, 11 persons lost their lives while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
โ€œTwenty persons were involved in the accident; 11 persons were killed while others sustained fractures and injuries.
โ€œThe 11 corpses were taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, while those who sustained injuries were taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
โ€œThe road has been cleared and there is no obstruction caused as a result of the crash,โ€™โ€™ Owoade added.
He warned motorists against violating road safety guidelines and other road users, particularly commuters, to always caution commercial vehicle drivers against over-speeding.
