Onigbonna, Elemona receive 3rd class Staff of Office

The Kwara State government has given Staff of Office to two traditional monarchs; Onigbonna, Oba Abubakar Sholadoye Oloyede and Elemona of Ilemona, Oba Yusuf Omokanye, yesterday.

The two monarchs were decorated by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Saidu Habeeb at the council secretariat in Oyun.

The commissioner in his speech congratulated the Onigbonna, the Elemona and members of the two communities for the historic achievement which he said will impact on the development of the council.

He also stated that the royal fathers are veritable tools for grassroots mobilisation, socio-economic and political development.

The Commissioner assured the monarchs that the administration of Governor Ahmed will continue to accord due recognition and support to the traditional rulers.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr (Mrs) Habibat Katibi described the upgrading of the monarchs as special blessing saying Governor Ahmed personally directed it.

Katibi urged members of the communities to work with their royal fathers in order to ensure speedy development.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the council, Joshua Omokanye in his welcome address described the event as a fulfilment of promises made by the present administration.
