The Provost, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Dr. Abduraheem Yusuf has disclosed the commitment of his administration to boost the state economy with the ongoing water project in the institution.

Yusuf added that the project, if completed, will go a long way in increasing the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), of the college.

“We have always made it known to the people that we will be less dependent on the state government and at the same time, take the college to the next level. By the grace of God, the school water project tagged ‘iCOED’ will be commissioned by October.

“It will be served during all our functions and we will also sell to the public and with this, we should be making good profits. It will serve as part of our IGR,” the Provost said.

He added that the institution in collaboration with Ad-Doman Multipurpose Cooperative Society has expended the sum of N19million on the project.

According to him, the factory will begin with the production of 400 bags of sachet water per day.

“Subsequently, production of bottle water will follow and it is expected that about 60 jobs will be created in the short run.”

The project, if completed will rank the college among the institutions in the state to have ventured into table and sachet water production.
