Tragedy struck last Thursday in Okeya Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State following the mysterious death of a labourer attached to the Igbaja campus of Al-Hikmah University.
The labourer who hailed from nearby Adanla community and popularly called Olori was said to have somersaulted twice around 2am on Monday after sex romp with his pregnant wife who was said to have been laced with thunderbolt (known as magun in local parlance) by her concubine.
Olori was said to have showed signs of weakness and started acting funny while on duty at the Al-Hikmah University, Igbaja campus.
Speaking with our reporter yesterday, a source said, “The woman who is a mother of seven children, is fond of having sex with other men in Okeya community.
“The woman normally visits one of her secret lovers in the morning and another one later in the day for sex.”
According to the source, the pregnant mother of seven, visited one of her lovers who is a community leader (name withheld) in the morning and was later with another concubine who is a famer and hunter same day. The woman was said to have informed the latter that she was tired.
“Because of her complain of tiredness, farmer appeared not to have sex with her for the day hence she went home to meet the husband.
“However colleagues of the woman’s husband noticed Olori was acting strange at work, the following day and he was even sighted sitting inside the sun alone for some hours.
“When his friends asked what could be the problem, he narrated how he somersaulted twice after having sex with his pregnant wife around 2am on Monday adding that he has never been himself since then.”
Olori was said to have been rushed to a private facility in Igbaja (name withheld) where he was pronounced dead three days after they could not diagnose him of any ailment.
Following the sudden death of Olori, the Jagun of Okeya Ipo and other leaders of the community were said to have interrogated the wife, who confessed having secret lovers. The mother of seven also confirmed that she last had sex with the community leader before her husband.
To ascertain who may have laced the woman with ‘magun’ the Jagun and other leaders of hunters in Okeya were said to have led one of her concubines (the famer) to a shrine where he was reportedly tortured and made to drink a substance.
“The potion was given to him in order to ascertain if he was responsible for the thunderbolt laced on the woman.
“After some days, it was obvious that the farmer was innocent because he did not die as expected of anyone culpable. It was after this that the other concubine was interrogated and he confessed being the architect of the ‘magun’ (thunderbolt),” the source disclosed.
Meanwhile, it was gathered last night that the Oludopo of Okeya Ipo, Oba Saheed Opadoye Oyebanji Oyelekan III has suspended the community leader for the illicit act while also ordering the council of chiefs to further look into the matter and recommend appropriate sanction for the culprit.
In a related development, the two concubines have been ordered to contribute N2,500 monthly each for the upkeep of the widow until she is delivered of her baby.
This was the resolution of leaders of the community when the duo were summoned to Jagun’s residence in order to ensure the safe delivery of the widow.
Though the case was said to have been reported last week at Ajase-Ipo Police Station, efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Ajayi Okasanmi to speak on the issue proved abortive last night as calls put through his mobile phone was not responded to while text message sent to him was yet to be replied as at the time of filing this report.
