The Kwara State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria
(SWAN) has appointed a member of the National Broadcasting Commission,
NBC, Barrister Salihu Bamidele Aluko as one of its patrons.
At a brief event in Ilorin, the Chairman of the Association, Mr Jimoh
Bashir said the decision to bestow the honour on him was borne out of
his support to sports development in Kwara State over the years.
He hoped that the honour would be an added advantage to SWAN in its
quest for effective sports reportage and promotion in Kwara State.
Bashir applauded the support and solidarity of the new patron to the
association and sports industry in the state and urged him to sustain
it.
The Chairman who requested for the support of Barrister Aluko towards
the completion of its Secretariat located at the Kwara State Stadium
Complex urged him to use his influence in assisting SWAN in achieving
its scheduled 2020 programmes.
Responding, Barrister Salihu Bamidele Aluko appreciated SWAN
leadership in the State for the honour, saying that the honour would
serve as impetus to do more for the sports industry.
He promised to offer assistance to the association to achieve its set
objectives.
Barrister Aluko commended the doggedness and quick impact of the
present leadership of SWAN within the short period and advised them
not to relent in attaining the goals.
