Oniyangi among Ilorin’s earliest medical practitioners – Saraki
Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has described late Dr. Abdulkadir Oniyangi as one of the earliest medical doctors in the country who was a product of Ilorin Emirate.
Saraki noted this in a condolence message over the development through his personal twitter handle and prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his sins and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
According to Saraki, “I commiserate with the Oniyangi family, the Emir of Ilorin and the people of the Ilorin Emirate over the death of Dr. Abdulkadir Oniyangi, one of the earliest medical doctors to be produced by the ancient town”.
Late Oniyangi who is the founder of Hassanat Hospital, Taiwo road, Ilorin died on Thursday and was buried at his GRA Ilorin home shortly after the Jum’at prayer on Friday. He was a former Secretary to the Kwara State Government.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq joined other senior citizens and hundreds of Muslim faithful for the Janaazah.
Dignitaries at the burial included Senator Sadiq Umar (Kwara North); Chief Judge of Kwara State Justice Sulyman Durosinlorun Kawu; and former Grand Khadi of Sharia Court of Appeal Kwara State Justice AbdulKadir Orire among others.
Describing his death as the end of an era, AbdulRazaq had earlier described Dr Oniyangi as a trailblazer in the medical profession and a distinguished public administrator with impeccable character.
