The people of Asa local government area of Kwara state have put their weight behind the candidature of Alh Rasaq Lawal as the Peoples Democratic Party’s(PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Asa/ Ilorin West constituency.
They gave the assurance of their total support for Lawal, who they described as a bonafide son of Asa on Monday when Lawal paid a ‘ thank you’ visit to Afon, the headquarters of the local government.
The PDP chairman in Asa, Alh Folorunsho Busari who was flanked by all the 17 ward chairmen, women leaders and representatives of the youths spoke on behalf of the community.
Busari who said that they were proud of Lawal’s track records of achievements when he was a cabinet member in the state between 1999- 2003 said they were delighted over his election as their representative.
He added: ” We are united in our support for you . We don’t have any choice but to support all the candidates of the PDP because our God sent leader, Dr Bukola Saraki has graciously picked our son, Atunwa as PDP gubernatorial candidate.
“Rasaq Lawal is our son in Asa. He has track records of achievements, humble and Godly. ”
He thanked Lawal who is also the state secretary of the PDP for his role in ensuring that prominent members of the old PDP stayed back in the party to receive Saraki and his followers.
Responding, the elated and appreciative Rasaq Lawal thanked the leadership of PDP in Asa under the chairmanship of Folorunsho Busari for keeping members of the party united.
He assured them of quality representation and asked them to thank the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on his behalf.
He said all hands must be on deck to deliver 100% votes for the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Barr Rzak Atunwa and other PDP candidates during the 2019 general elections.
