The Ekiti state legislative council on Tuesday wielded the big stick by suspending the council chairman, Comrade Yinka Dallas, over allegation of misappropriation of fund and lack of transparency in running the council.
The Speaker of the council’s legislative arm, Hon Adeniyi Kayode who spoke with National Pilot last night over the matter said the suspension was lifted following the intervention of Hon Ebun Owolabi, Mr Samuel Bamisaye and other stakeholders in the party.
He said “One of our female councillors and I the Speaker, we are here with the council chairman talking to you and I want to inform you that we have settled our grievances.
“Initially we pronounced the suspension but due to the intervention of leaders and stakeholders like Hon Ebun Owolabi and Samuel Bamisaye, it no longer stands because we want to achieve peace here in Ekiti. We members of the same family of the leader of the our party in the state and senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki.
“We are members of the Saraki dynasty and whatever we have done wrong has been overlooked. We want the peace we have enjoyed so far in Ekiti to continue”, he added.

The meeting was at the instance of Hon Ebun Owolabi and lasted several hours.
A top source in the council who did not want his name in print because he was not allowed to speak to the press on the matter said the stakeholders in the council have waded in with a view to resolving it.

But reacting to the issue in a telephone chat, last night, the Dallas said the matter has been resolved.
He told our reporter that “there is no crisis whatsoever in Ekiti and I am with all my councillors as I speak with you now.
“The soft copy of the letter that went viral online regarding the issue if you observe was not on any letter headed paper. They (the councillors) said they were misconstrued that it was somebody who was privy to one of the letters of their meetings that posted it on line.

“Agreed, we had misunderstanding which is normal in politics but it has been resolved. There is no crisis or suspension whatsoever. I will be having a joint sitting with them tomorrow (Thursday) in our resolve to continue to work together for the greater good of Ekiti and we still maintain the initial peace in the council which had seen us move the council to a greater height”, he submitted.
