Woman remanded for breaking neighbour’s head with pestle

The Upper Area Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital on Tuesday remanded one Fatimoh Musa for allegedly breaking her neighbour’s head with a pestle.
The Police Information Report (FIR) revealed that on 25th October, 2018, one Aminat Muhammed of Irewolede Area Ilorin reported to the CP Monitoring Unit ‘A’ Division that the accused person was washing plate at the back of Aminat Muhammed’s window when the incident happened.
FIR noted that Muhammed asked the accused to leave the window side and also stop washing plates there.
The FIR further revealed that Muhammed replied her by saying ‘You are insulting an old woman, curse will be on your parents’.
The police report stressed that the statement triggered anger between them as Musa suddenly went inside, picked pestle thereby hitting Muhammed on the back of her head.
Blood started gushing out even as Muhammed was rushed to the hospital in state of unconsciousness.
The accused person was dragged before Justice Abdulrahman Yahaya for assault and causing hurt contrary to section 265 and 244 of the penal code law.
The prosecutor, Mojisola Olamokun therefore prayed the court to remand the accussed person saying investigation is still ongoing on the matter.
In his rulling, the Judge, Yahaya remanded the accused person in prison, while the case was adjourned to November 6th 2018.
