Kwara Young Babes wins 12th CP YSFON U-13 soccer tourney

 

Kwara young Babes FC, Ilorin has emerged the champions of 12th edition of Commissioner of Police U-13 soccer competition organised among the pupils in the state.

Young Babes defeated Kingshood FC of Ilorin 4-1 on penalties after a keenly contested 90th minute game, which ended 0-0 in the final match played on Tuesday at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Kwara Young Stars beat Champions FC 2-1 to win the third place match of the U-13 soccer tournament organised by Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Kwara State Chapter.

The two teams displayed their good soccer artistry in the presence of mammoth crowd, including the senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State Command led by Commissioner of Police, CP Fafowora Bolaji O., NSCDC, Nigeria Custom Service and other security agencies.

Speaking while declaring the programme closed, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alahji Shuaib Akanbi said the state is looking forward for more partnership from other security outfits, to developing sports in the state.

In his earlier address, the state Commissioner of Police, CP FafoworaBolaji O. assured that the state police command will continue to sponsor the tournament in order to encourage the young ones to partake in the tournament.

He however urged parents to encourage their children to participate in sporting activities in order to discourage them from engaging in social devices.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Kwara YSFON, Prince AdemolaKiyesola thanked the sponsor for supporting the tournament in the last 12 years, urging other security agencies to follow the gesture of the state police command.
