Three men drug, rape woman, 18 in Ilorin

Kwara State Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, on Tuesday ordered the immediate remand of three in prison for their alleged involvement in the raping of an 18 year- old girl in the Kwara state capital.
The defendants Boluwatife Oluyemi, 23; Samuel David, 23; and Kudus Waheed, 18 were arraigned before magistrate Adam Mohammed for a two count charges of criminal conspiracy and rape contrary to section 97 and 283 of penal code law.
According to the First information report obtained by National Pilot, the victim Saka Latifat while she was on her way to visit her friend, Saidat, a tricycle driver later identified as Oluyemi stopped her to enter into his tricycle but she declined.
While Oluyemi was trying to force the victim to enter the tricycle, other defendants, David and Waheed came around to join him to force Latifat into the tricycle and zoomed off thereafter.
It was learned that the defendants later forced the victim to take some tablets which made her to sleep off after which she woke up experiencing some pain in private part and stomach ache.
During the course of police investigation, it was discovered that, the Latifat could not ascertain who among them had sexual intercourse with her due to her unconsciousness but medical report obtained from Police training school clinic Ilorin revealed that, there is clinical evidence of sexual abuse but vaginal coitus cannot be ascertained.
In his judgement, Magistrate Adam Mohammed ordered the defendants to be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre and also adjourned the matter till 18th of October for further mention.
