Al-Korowy: Oba of Lagos Akinolu, JAMB Registrar, Awodun, Saro, others grace fidau

 

There was a large turnout of dignitaries yesterday at the fidau for foremost Islamic scholar, Sheikh Qudus Abdullahi Al-Korowy which was held at Oke-Apomu area, Ilorin.
Among the personalities present were; the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akinolu, the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), Registrar, Prof. Ish’aq Oloyede, the Chairman of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Dr Murtala Awodun and foremost businessman, Umaru Saro.
Also in attendance were; legal practitioner, Olaolu Ali, SAN, Grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sulaiman Dan Boronu, founder of Al-Hikmah University, Chief Abdulraheem Oladimeji and former chief press secretary to the governor, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Mohammed Bashir Solihu led other clerics in prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
According to him, Kwara State has lost one of its greatest scholars adding that Al-Korowy played a lot of developmental roles that can never be forgotten.
He further described the scholar as a philanthropist who shared the little he had with colleagues and relatives.
Imam Bashir urged everyone to lead a good life as death is inevitable for all.
“Today two creatures are gathered here. The human and angels of Allah and both creatures have vital roles to play at the Sheikh Qudus’ fidau.”
In his sermon, Dan Boronu described the deceased as peace maker among the scholars adding that he earned the name, ‘the pillar of peace’ among his colleagues.
He urged the children of the scholar to emulate their father, to build on his legacy and to unite themselves.
In his remarks, son of late Al-Korowy, Ustaz Abdulganiyu Qudus described his father as a man of integrity, an attribute he claimed the deceased inherited from his parents and his Islamic tutors.
He however prayed that Allah should give all the children courage to build on the achievements of their father.
Similarly, the Dean of Science and Humanities, Al-Hikmah University, Prof Lanre Badmas said the late scholar while alive helped several people achieve their dreams by financing their Arabic education.
Also, former commissioner for Education in the state, Engr. Musa Ayinla Yeketi said Al-Korowy will be remembered for a long time due to his kind gesture.
