Court remands 18-yr-old for allegedly killing business woman in Ilorin

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Monday remanded one Aminu Ibrahim and his cohorts for allegedly killing a business woman, Mrs Rasheedat Jimoh.
Remanded alongside Ibrahim were Abubakar Sa’adi, of Odota area in the state capital and one Oche Ella of Agbeyi village, Markudi, Benue State.
They were dragged before Magistrate Muhammed Ibrahim.
The trio were charged to court for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and culpable homicide punishable with death contrary to Section 6b, 1(2) and 3(1) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and section 221 of Penal Code law.
The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the said victim, Jimoh, was shot and dispossessed of an unspecified amount and some GSM recharge cards.
Investigation carried out by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Police Force Headquarters, Abuja however led to the arrest of the first accused person, (Ibrahim) in Ilorin, FIR stated.
Police report also stated that one Barretta Pistol with breach No 75C29175 and nineteen rounds of 5.5mm live ammunition were recovered from him.
The accused was also said to have confessed to the Armed robbery, killing of Jimoh as well as dispossessing the deceased of money and recharge cards.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Sa’adi who was said to have purchased the Barretta pistol used for the operation from the third accused person, Ella and it was handed over to Ibrahim.
The 2nd and 3rd accused were said to have also confessed their involvement in the robbery operation that led to the killing of Jimoh.
The prosecutor, Yusuf Nasir informed the court that police investigation over the matter is still ongoing.
Nasir therefore prayed the court to remand the accused persons pending the completion of Police investigation.
He further posited that if the accused were admitted to bail, they may commit similar offence in the society.
His counsel, the first accused person, Barr. A. I. Orisankoko prayed the court for the bail of his client.
He submitted that his client is still presumed innocent adding that the FIR is a mere information that doesn’t have facts.
The magistrate in his ruling remanded the accused persons while the case was adjourned to 12th December, 2018.
