By Mumini Abdulkareem
The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Prof Emmanuel Adedayo Fasakin has described as baseless allegation of mismanagement of TETFUND and alleged attend to falsify his credentials in other to elongate his tenure.
He said that allegations were not only unfounded but emanated from an embittered staff who has been dismissed by the management of the institution.
Fasakin in a seven page comprehensive response to the allegation send to National Pilot noted that the accusation made against his person by one Dr Oladele Oloko was malicious and fallacious adding that the petitioner was not even a staff of the institution against his claim of a Chief Lecturer. Fasakin challenged Oloko to present any document confirming his appointment to the post he claimed.
According to him, “Following the laid down procedures and extant law in operation at the time, my re-appointment as Rector of the institution four another four years term with effect from March 11th, 2019 was approved by the visitor himself (President Buhari) based on the recommendation of the Governing Council conveyed to me in December, 2018. I have therefore commenced my second term in office as at the date of commencement of amendment of the Polytechnic Act, 2019.
While denying that the provision of the Federal Polytechnic Act 2019 as amended was bridged in the appointment of the current registrar, bursar and librarian of the institution, Prof Fasakin said the appointment of said positions where duly advertised in national dailies in line with the procedures which explains why several applications were received from various parts of the country for the positions.
On allegations of embezzlement of TETFUND grants, Prof Fasakin who listed about twenty capital projects funded by federal government intervention explained that the judicious utilization of TETFUND grants was responsible for the movement of the institution to its permanent sites in November, 2019 describing it as no mean feat.
According to him, only a novice like Dr Oloko will not know that TETFUND is deeply involved in the administration of funds it releases to institution and that the agency has evolved standards and procedures that ensures funds are utilised for the purpose for which they are released.
Fasakin said Dr Oloko does not deserve that attention he seeks and that his shenanigans were only meant to curry the sympathy of those who are uninformed.
“What could be more preposterous that for a supposed academic whose appointment was terminated in an institution as Lecturer 1 to be claiming to be a Chief Lecturer of the same institution?”, he queried.
He said the management of the federal institution under his watch remain highly focused to deliver on its mandate adding that Federal Polyphonic Ile-Oluji was adjudged 13th from 112 polytechnics and monotechnics in the country in 2018 which attests to how “well we have kept on course. We would not be distracted by individuals like Dr Oloko who have little understanding about the weighty matters of technical education in the 21st century.
Recall that an online medium had published a petition written by one Mr. Oloko Oladele, alleging Prof Fasakin of mal-administration, fraudulent practices and violation of the Federal Polytechnic Act, 2019, signed into law by the President.
