NPL: LMC propose 5yrs sanction for poor officiating
The League Management Company has proposed a 5 years sanction for any erring referee found wanting in the act.
This was part of decision reached at the joint meeting of the league management company (LMC) and the NPFL club held recently in Abuja.
The LMC identified poor officiating as one of the biggest challenges facing the league system in Nigeria, hence recommend that any erring referee found wanting shall be withdrawn from the league for minimum of 5 years alongside other disciplinary action.
This according to the official statement issued after the meeting is to bring sanity to the NPL, add value and credibility to the game.
The NFF also expressed it’s total confidence and support for the LMC and Directions for their untiring efforts to sustain the league despite airing challenges faced by the system in recent time.
“The 2019 NPFL season is a transitional edition and thus everyone agree to work harmoniously to support the process to make the season a success within the inherent limitations due for the transition,” the statement read.
The meeting outcomes accepted the proposal relegation of Eight (8) teams from the NPFL at the end of the abridged league with four teams each from the two groups while 4 teams shall be promoted from the NNL to revert to the regular NPFL 20 term formant in the 2019/2020 season.
The meetings however welcome the clubs promoted to the NPFL from the Nigerian National League (NNL), namely Kada City FC of Kaduna, Insurance FC of Benin, Gombe united FC and Remo stars FC.
