Beauty resolution to make in 2019

It’s time to revamp your beauty routine for 2019! From perfecting a new skin care routine, to experimenting with makeup to trying different lipstick finishes to testing the glazed highlighter trend, make 2019 the year that you amp up your beauty game in a big way. Here are 10 beauty resolutions to start the new year off right.
1. Remove makeup every night: Sleeping in your foundation, mascara, and eyeliner is not exactly the best idea for your skin. In fact, while you sleep, that remaining makeup can mix with the dirt and oil on the surface of your skinโ€”and this can lead to clogged pores, which can lead to breakouts and blackheads.
2. Use an anti-aging moisturiser: If you’ve considered putting together an anti-aging skin care routine but haven’t yet, why not go for it in the new year? New year, new skin care routine! To get you started, add an anti-aging moisturizer. This is to help repair the skin’s moisture barrier and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with continued use over time. Apply morning and night after cleansing.
3. Add sugar scrubs and face masks to your skin care routine: Your skin deserves a little pampering every now and then. And not once every six months. That doesn’t mean you have to hit up the spa all the timeโ€”you can show your complexion some love right at home by using sugar scrubs and face masks a few times a week.
4. Bust out of your hair colour comfort zone: Envious of all the rainbow hair hues you see while scrolling through your Instagram feed? Why not take a risk and paint your strands an eye-catching shade, too? Whether you love blue hair or pink hair or you prefer pastels over brights, a new hair colour could be the perfect way to usher in the new year and be a little more adventurous. You can either hit up the salon and have a colourist give you a brand spanking new hair colour or you can dye your hair in your own bathroom with an at-home hair colour kit.
5. Rock a natural-finish lip: Just as suggested with switching up your hair colour in the new year, it’s time to do the same thing when it comes to your lipstick choices. While matte and metallic lips were beloved in 2018, 2019 is forecasted to be the year of the natural-looking lip.
6. Always use a primer before makeup: Have you ever wondered why your foundation doesn’t look as smooth as your favourite beauty blogger’s? Well, while they may have a different skin type from yours it could be that you’re forgetting a very important step in your makeup routine: primer. Layering on a glowing or matte primer can make all the difference in the world, as it can create a smooth base for your makeup application.
7. Apply your foundation and concealer with a makeup blender: Want to create a flawless-looking complexion? It’s all about how you apply your face makeup. Instead of dabbing on your foundation or concealer with your fingers, use a makeup blender.
8. Jump on the colour correction train: Out with the old concealer and in with the new! Take advantage of colour correction, a technique that involves using different pastel-coloured concealers to mask imperfections on the opposite end of the colour wheel.
9. Perfect the dewy skin look: No-makeup, makeup really made a name for itself in 2018 and there’s no chance of it slowing down in 2019. So, if you want to hop on the glassy, dewy skin look, here’s what you should do: If you can get away with skipping foundation, massage a natural glow enhancer onto your skin from your forehead to your chin. The sheer highlighting effect of this glow lotion can help give your complexion the perfect no-makeup, makeup finish.
10. Become BFFS with sun protection: Another piece of beauty advice that’s worth listening to is taking sun protection measures daily, no matter what time of year it is. Start by applying a moisturizer with SPF. Remember to reapply at least every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating (so toss the bottle in your bag before you leave for the day!). But your sun protection routine shouldn’t stop with sunscreen. You should also limit your amount of time in the sun (especially between 10am and 2pm, which are the sun’s peak hours), seek shade, and cover up exposed areas in long sleeves, pants, a broad-brimmed hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses.
