With Sukurat Adelodun (e-Mail: [email protected])
This week, all road leads to Houston Texas in the United State of America, where we captured the moment with Mrs. Dunni Badru of Kogberegbe family, a Television programme aired on African Magic Yoruba.
Dunni Badru is from Ajilete Yewa in Ogun State. She has a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and a Masters Marketing and Advertising in view. Badru is a mother of two.
The programme brings to life fun moments and family connections addressing most marital issues in an interactive and dramatic act. Tackling vital issues such as finances, morals, endurance, love, tolerance, external influences, and commitment. Below is an excerpt from our exclusive interview!
How did the journey to being Mrs. Kogberegbe started and for how long have you been on the journey?
Mr. and Mrs. Kogberegbe programme started in 2011, 8years ago. I was presenting a programme on TV called Awa OBINRIN with Dunni Badru and Lanre (Mr. Kogberegbe) also has his own programme too. He called me one day and told me about his idea, we both looked at it and that was how it started.
The programme tackles vices and issues in the life of a married couple, what inspired this type of TV series?
In marriage, there are so many unspoken words, so many unsolved problems, issues just because no one wants to be blamed, just because they want to stay married. There are many married couples that are not happy just because they don’t want to sit down and discuss some issues. Mr. and Mrs. Kogberegbe is a programme that aim to shed lights on those issues no one want to discuss but causing misunderstanding in marriages. By making it our problem we are helping you solve yours.
What brings you satisfaction in your work in the TV series?
My role as Mrs. Kogberegbe gives me life, I have always wanted to be an advocate for women, an Avenue where I can talk and advice my fellow women and Mrs. Kogberegbe provided that for me. I can be a responsible wife to naughty sister in law to rude friend’s wife; I love it.
Have you gotten any award via this TV series?
Yeah, we won an award for Best indigenous TV series by Oodua image Award in Houston Texas.
How do you cope with advances from male fans, how do you tackle or manage situations when your fans blame you for the attitude portrayed in a character you played?
Advances from Male fans are expected; I handled it maturely without being rude to them. I am a gentle lady but truthfully I don’t take Nonsense!
What do we expect from Mr. and Mrs. Kogberegbe this year?
We want to improve more on Mr. and Mrs. Kogberegbe, we are bringing more spices into the programme and this year, we are introducing another TV series. We produced our first movie last year, we are releasing it soon. “BORDERS”.
How would you rate the Yoruba Nollywood industry now compared to what it was say like 10 years back?
Yoruba Nollywood is really trying, we have new talents that changes the face of the Industry, the quality of production has improved because the viewers/Fans of 10years ago are different now. These are millennial fans, they know when a story is well written, they can differentiate between a good and bad production.
You have worked with some Nollywood actors and actresses, can you mention them so that those just meeting you may know?
I have not really met those I would love to, I spoke with some on phone. I love them all though for working so hard to make the Industry great.
For those that never had the opportunity of watching your series before and are interested ,how can they get it?
Mr. and Mars Kogberegbe is on YouTube, they can always watch it.
If you are not on set, what do you do at your leisure period, any side hustle?
I am always busy, I am an hustler, I like buying and selling, I like money a lot, so am always working. I want to introduce my business line, I am still working on it; it’s to be unveiled soon.
Appreciate your fans ,and share with them words to keep them motivated?
I want my fans to know marriage is sweet when you are with the right person, don’t ever compare your matrimony to that of others, dont compare at all because what works for A might not work for B. Above all, always let your spouse know how much you care about them, say it and act it.
Please, please and please let us all say No to Domestic Violence, if you are in any abusive marriage/relationship speak out and be saved.
DEPRESSION is real, whatever you are going through share it with people and seek help.
I love you all my fans.
