99% political billboards in Kwara unpaid for – KWASAA GM

The General Manager of Kwara State Signage Advertising Agency ( KWASAA), Hameed Olufadi has declared that 99 percent of political billboards erected across the state by politicians have not been paid for.
He made the disclosure during an interview with Pilot Business in his office on Tuesday.
He berated politicians across board for non compliance to the rules of the agency as regards erection of bill boards.
Olufadi said, “ Aside the fact that most of billboards are erected illegally, 99 percent of them were not paid for. Which means all the parties are not complying. “And when we try to do what is right and lawful, people will start complaining. While those in the ruling party say the agency is our own, those in the opposition will say the state government is trying to hinder their campaign.
He said further that the development has made the agency to lose huge revenue, expressing hope that after the election KWASAA will be able to ensure sanity in the sector.
“The good thing is once the elections are over these billboards will be removed ten days after by the agency or the owners themselves. ”
On the agency’s revenue target for the 2019 fiscal year, the GM revealed that they were allotted N135 million by the state government.
According to him, the N135 million is achievable if all the necessary working tools are provided for the agency.
He said, ” To meet up with our target this year we’ll still come back to the issue of logistics as demanded last year. We need a pickup van, 18 seater bus and at least four motorcycles to penetrate into the rural roads in various communities across the state.
“We also want to renovates our zonal offices in Kwara north and southern zone to make them more functional in raking revenue from those locations,” he said.
