Kwara police arrests 4 over motorcycle theft

Four suspected robbers are currently cooling their feet in police net for allegedly robbing one Taiwo Jonathan of his motorcycle
The motorcycle valued at N370,000 with registration number Kwara LEM 217 VM was reportedly stolen from the victims residence in Gaa-Akanbi area of Ilorin.
The suspects are Akanbi Afeez, Umar Jamiu, Jimoh Rasaq and Abeeb Ayodeji
It was gathered that the suspects were arrested following complaint by Jonathan at the Area Command headquarters, Ilorin, penultimate Monday.
A police source said the victim who had secured his motorcycle before going to bed, was surprised to wake up to discover that it had gone missing.
” When he raised alarm, a neighbour told him that it was his co-tenants Akanbi Afeez, who let in his friends into the house through the back door.
“The police worked on the tip off and this led to the arrest of Afeez, who implicated his friends who were also nabbed for the crime.
“During interogation, the suspects said they were at the victim’s compound at about 11pm to smoke Indian hemp,” he added.
The source added that police investigation confirmed that the suspects are notorious criminals terrorising the area.
He said efforts are on to arrest other members of the gang and recover the stolen motorcycle.
Efforts to confirm the case from the state Police spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone did not connect.
… nabs man for robbing Fulani herdsman
Men of the Kwara State police command have arrested a 23- year- old man for alleged robbery attack on Fulani herdsmen at Okolowo, Ilorin, penultimate Saturday.
It was gathered that the herdsman, who was grazing his cows was attacked on his way to Ogbomoso, but stopped by in Okoolowo to pass the night.
He was said to have been dispossessed of three cows valued at N330,000 and inflicted with matchete cuts on his body during the attack which occurred at midnight.
According to a police source, the victim raised alarm, which attracted people within the vicinity, who rushed him to the hospital for first aid treatment.
It was further gathered that the case was reported at the F-SARS office in Ilorin by one Kanbi Araromi of Moro Local Government Area of the state.
The source further said that security operatives were placed on surveillance in the area, where the three cows were discovered.
“Ambush was laid for the suspect and he was arrested when he attempted to convey the cows to another destination.
“He was taken to F-SARS office for interrogation where he confessed to the crime, adding that he conspired with others at large to carry out the attack on the herdsman,” the source added.
The source disclosed that efforts are on by the police to arrest other members of the gang.
When contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said he was unaware of the matter.
