Makinde visits Adeoyo hospital, promises UCH standard

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde said at the weekend his administration will turn around the fortunes of Adeoyo State Hospital and score high marks in the health sector.
The Governor, who stated this during a visit to the facility located at ย Yemetu, Ibadan for on the spot assessment, said that his government would make the hospital meet the standards of University College Hospital (UCH).
He said: โOur aspiration is to ensure that people receive world class treatment here. We donโt want everybody to be going to University College Hospital.
โWe will make this hospital become very high standard that will be close to UCH standard.โ
He added: โHealth is one of the major pillars that my administration will rest on and will ensure that quality healthcare is available to the people.โ
Speaking further with the management of the health care centre, Makinde expressed concern over its poor state but maintained that โwe would turn the hospital and other health centres across the state to world class health centres that would be conducive for patients with a view to receiving quality treatment.โ
He rated the hospitalโs facilities at 30 per cent, but vowed that โwe want to get pass mark in the health sector.โ
The inspection was to ensure that the Governor has first-hand information about the state of the hospital and find means of transforming it to high standard health facility.
He was accompanied by the stateโs Head of Service, Amidat Agboola.
While speaking inside the Conference room of the hospital, Governor Makinde promised to improve on the welfare of the workers and make their working conditions conducive.
He said: โFor staff, we will do our best to motivate you and when we are doing that, to whom much is given, much is also expected.โ
Earlier, the hospital Chief Consultant, Dr. Soji Adeyanju pledged to support the state government in its bid to take Oyo State health sector to greater height.
