Ilorin Airport gets new CSO

In a bid to strengthen security within the airport premises and environs, a new Chief Security Officer, Mr. Idowu Samson has been deployed to Ilorin International Airport.
The new CSO, Mr. Idowu Samson Abiodun, takes over from Mr. Adebayo Amoo, who pulled out of service, recently.
Until his new appointment, Abiodun was staff of FAAN at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos.
As helmsman of the Aviation Security (AvSEC), the CSO is expected to oversee security operations in collaboration with other security agencies like the Nigeria Police Force, Air Force and Civil Defence among others as well as report to the airport manager and FAAN headquarters appropriately.
Findings by Pilot Aviation revealed that some of the security challenges at the airport include herdsmen invasion of the runway, airport land encroachment and illegal mining, among others.
Recall that In a bid to curb cattle incursion at the llorin lnternational Airport runway, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) recently commenced fencing of the Airport last year.
The airport Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim AbdulAzeez, also convened a stakeholders meeting to curb incursion by cattle, encroachment and illegal mining activities around the Airport.
He revealed that the airport management would set up a monitoring committee comprising all stakeholders to end all illegal activities at the Airport.
