Saraki reinforces call for women inclusion in governance

The immediate past president of the Nigerian Senate and the National political leader of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has stressed on his party’s readiness to appoint women into decision-making positions in its political and governance activities.
Senator Saraki stated this yesterday evening, 20th of October, during his meeting with the recently-elected Kwara State Organizing Secretary for the PDP, Hajiya Bilkisu Oniyangi.
He disclosed in his statement that, the crux of the meeting is to discuss how to mobilize new members into the leading opposition party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Speaking on Oniyangi’s unprecedented emergence as the PDP’s Organizing secretary in Kwara, the Political Juggernaut described the party’s decision as the demonstration of the its unwavering commitment to women inclusion in governance.
“Hajiya Oniyangi’s election to this critical role in the party structure is a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to ensure that more women are ably represented in important decision-making positions in our political and governance activities”, he said.
Oniyangi was part of the newly elected party state executives, chosen in a consensus arrangement at the party’s Congress this past Saturday, October 16, 2021, whereby Hon. Babatunde Mohammed emerged chairman.
