KWSG expends N11m to restore  power in 32 communities

 

The sum of N11 million has been committed by the Kwara State Government in conjunction with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to restore power supply in about 32 communities which had suffered power outage for the past four months in Ilorin.

The disclosure was made in a press statement signed by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Energy, Babatunde Toyin AbdulRasheed at the weekend.

 According to him, “The sum of eleven million fifty thousand naira (N11,050,000) has been committed by the Kwara State Government to ensure that power is restored to the communities suffering power outage as a result of faulty control panel at Apalara sub-injection station.

“The Commissioner of Energy Mallam Taiye Eleja Banu assured that light had already been restored to some of the affected communities including Kuntu, Adeta, Pakata, Isale Jagun, Idigba, Ipata Oloje, Sekele, Ita-merin, Alore, Oloje, Anifowoshe, Isale Banni and Abemi.

“He therefore assured other affected communities that they will soon enjoy uninterrupted power supply.

The statement added that IBEDC Technical Manager has assured the state government and other affected communities that in the next few days power will be restored to the remaining communities especially; Abayawo, Gaa Osbi, Ogidi, Owode street, Isale Asalapa, among others.

The release also quoted the commissioner as reiterating the commitment of the state government in ensuring that residents of the state enjoy uninterrupted power supply as part of its priority to improve the welfare of the citizenry in the area of socio-economic activities.
