Kwara Assembly okays N250m loan request for Ahmed

The Kwara house of Assembly on Wednesday approved the request of the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed to access a term loan facility of N250 million from a generation bank
The loan according to the Governor’s letter of request to the House was for the upgrading of infrastructures and construction of the state Lands and Administration Secretariat.
The lawmakers granted the request after a thorough debate by members following the adoption of a report of its Committee on Lands and housing on the matter.
Leading a debate on the issue, the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke noted that the money had been captured in the 2018 budget and a section of the Constitution has already explained how the loan is going to be spent. He urged the House to grant the request.
Other members who contributed during the debate urged the House to allow the access of the loan since it will aid infrastructural development of the state.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon Mathew Okedare who presided over Wednesday’s plenary later directed the clerk to communicate the approval to the Governor.
