KWSG to launch device for direct monitoring of teacher

 

The Kwara State Government has concluded arrangements to introduce Education Management Information System in all schools and tertiary institutions across the state.

The project when fully implemented will provide results and monitoring of education programmes and ensure delivery of high quality education in a timely and cost effective manner.

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Bilikisu Oniyangi disclosed this in Ilorin, the state capital while speaking with journalists at the weekend.

According to her, with the device, every teacher across the state would be monitored directly from her office at the headquarters of the Ministry.

Similarly, she said the salary each teacher earns and deductions made on monthly basis would be ascertained and corrected where errors are detected and students’ enrolment would be monitored while the issue of miracle centers would become a thing of the past in the state.

Oniyangi disclosed that an incentive of $100, 000 has been set aside by the World Bank through the Federal Ministry of Education for states that embark on the project even as she disclosed that Kwara State is leading in this direction.

The commissioner therefore appealed to the incoming government to key into the project to ensure its full implementation and actualisation.

She added that the government is articulated in its school programmes as it operates 6-3-3-4ย ย system of education which is primary, junior secondary, senior secondary, the higher institution and pre-nursery and nursery.

According to her, the International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase- Ipo project which is in collaboration with the state government would soon hit the ground running for students to learn entrepreneurship skills.

She disclosed that one of her greatest achievements within her short stay in office is that she was able to instill discipline into the education sector, adding that she enjoyed working with the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed who gave her a free hand to positively reposition the education sector while she learnt a lot from the civil servants in her ministry.

The Commissioner stated that the education sector involves lots of challenges from all stakeholders, adding that the greatest challenges lie with the parents and the teachers.

Oniyangi, who is a member of the 25-member committee set up by the state government to interface with the incoming administration stated that meetings have been held between both parties even as she wished the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq government a successful tenure.
